Death of the forum ?
There has been a very quick decrease of activity, I hope this doesn't mean the death of the forum.

Re: Death of the forum ?
Is it because of the lack of mods? Or is it because Error isn't really being active anymore?

Re: Death of the forum ?
I have an idea. Currently, we're all working separately, and while that is all well and good, it doesn't encourage forum activity and camaraderie between colleagues. So, I think that we need some overarching goal, a university-wide project that will require all of our skills. So, maybe a big colonization effort? Perhaps we could come up with missions for each of us, and pass around the save file when it's our turn?
For example, for a colonization mission...
Planetologists: Determine optimal planet and place on planet to colonize.
Everyone: Determine the units to be put into place (eg, A communications satellite, a land base, a mining base, a geosynchronous satellite, a mapping satellite)
Physicists: Determine ship specifications needed
Engineers: Create experimental crafts
Physicists and Kerbonauts: Evaluate crafts
Engineers: Create final crafts
Everyone: Perform the mission!

I've been planning a mission on Duna it was to make a detailed evaluation of the red planet I really wanna know more about its ice caps, they're HUGE ! . But could this work that is all I want what does everyone else say ?

Re: Death of the forum ?
I say... we need to come up with some missions! Duna was one of the prime candidates I myself was thinking of. Of course, someone from planetology should ring in on this.

Well, I can help with my .craft and persistence server/client application that is very unstable and needs more work!

Or we can pass around the save! Normally!

But I'd much rather make it more complicated than it needs to be!

Of course, we are physicists, aren't we?
It's basically string theory in a nutshell.

I think we should plan the missions before we think of something like that, we need to decide on what vehicles we need and make a mission plan we also need to start giving jobs, that is if we are going to do this.

Re: Death of the forum ?
That's essentially what I suggested above. We need planning and foresight for this huge undertaking. Perhaps we should wait for the inclusion of resources in 0.20, so that we have more things to put on our planet of choice.

Re: Death of the forum ?
Anyway, I made the persistence file server/client application. I would post a link to KSP forums, but they are down atm, so here's a github link.

What is the required version for that program? Must we all have the same version? I'm a little bit behind in updates.

Latest version is [0.2B]. Latest version is required for the server not having to spit out an error about an unknown command and the new client has a new error handler.

So are we gonna use this ? If so who can host an almost 24h or 24h server ?

Re: Death of the forum ?
Should I make a thread to talk about and plan the mission(s), also we should try a mars direct plan if we are going to Duna. This can be done using the Kethane mod and a lot of good engineering (that's where I come in ).

Re: Death of the forum ?
Someone should probably make a thread for the missions, but I think it should be up to the planetologists to choose a target. I won't be able to update to the latest version of KSP until around next Sunday, so I can't start sharing my file until then.

Re: Death of the forum ?
This will be my last entry on this forum. I won't return.
Imho the main cause for the death of this forum is that founding the organisation was more important than actual "work".
The result was that this forum became a sort of debating club where most members were waiting for someone else to do something while staying on their own "territory". Worst of all, there was almost no enthousiasm when somebody really did something, thereby killing the last reason to do anything. Now everybody is waiting for someone else to rekindle the fire.
Speaking of fire, Error, you're fired as dean!
You've done something really wonderful by creating the University for research. A brilliant idea which inspired several people. But as soon as the University was founded, you forgot the responsibility that comes with the "job": You no longer took charge when needed. You were the highest authority and should have guided and inspired those which came to the University, especialy when it was apparent that the departement heads were incapable of doing just that.
In every case, thank you for starting the University.
And now, with or without your permission, i'll take my leave.
